This combination of a 6-day cruise and a 3-day land tour is a great way to get acquainted with Lake Baikal - biggest and deepest freshwater lake on Earth.
Lake Baikal is the largest and the deepest freshwater lake in the world. Due to its size, it is sometimes called the "Baikal Sea" and the "Pearl of Siberia". At more than 25 million years old, Baikal is also the world's oldest lake. Baikal is home to more than 1,700 species of plants and animals, two thirds of which can be found nowhere else in the world and was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. It is also home to the Buryat people who follow the Tibetan Buddhist religion and reside on the eastern side of the lake rearing goat, camel, cattle and sheep. Glorified in many songs and stories, Lake Baikal is beautiful any time of the year, but a summer cruise is probably the most relaxing way of getting acquainted with this amazing place!
